Nan Bauroth
Nan Bauroth asked P.J. Fitzsimmons:

I stumbled on your fantastic books and keep devouring them but I must tell you that the audiobooks are not done as well as they should be. The narrator does not have enough differentiation in his voice so you can tell the difference between the characters. Can you will find someone more talented to read them so I can give them to friends and listen to them myself? Otherwise they are bang up the best!

P.J. Fitzsimmons Hi Nan. You make a very fair point and you’re not the first to do so. Tim Bruce is a committed professional with an extraordinary range, particularly with accents, so I’ll confess that I, too, was a little surprised that even I sometimes lost track of who was speaking.
The problem was never Tim but the timelines under which he worked, and he and I have discussed a way forward.
By the way, this means that this is the first official announcement of our plans for the next audio books. The current publisher has elected to not continue the series so I’m going to produce them myself and I know my strengths when it comes to a project like this — I haven’t any. Makes them easy to inventory.
So we’re staying the course but taking your views into account and upping our game.
I really hope that’s received as a fair compromise and I hope you know how much I appreciate that you took the time to express a frank opinion — it’s going to directly influence an improvement starting from Reckoning at the Riviera Royale, tentatively scheduled for October.
Thanks very much for your kind and encouraging words.
Cheers,
PJ
