Korvalis Bernabeu-Heise
Korvalis Bernabeu-Heise asked Kyra R. Croninger:

How do you come up with character names..?

Kyra R. Croninger They come to me in nightly visions.

No, okay, seriously: I don’t have a set system for name-giving. Lots of my character’s names come from my surroundings, like River Kodai, who got his name from a winery near my college (Riverwood) and the villain of a musical I had seen the week of his creation (Kodaly from She Loves Me). Yancey got his name from a person I knew as a kid (and Victoria from my roommate’s Victoria’s Secret makeup bag.) Moses’ just fell out of the sky and seemed right so I slapped it on him, but his first name, Wyatt, came from my searching baby name lists.

So…all over the place. But ultimately, it’s just “what sounds best.” I know other people go for meaning and symbolism, but that rarely happens with my cast, unless by happy accident.
