Lois McMaster Bujold Oddly, I was thinking about this earlier today, when contemplating my bookshelves and their remaining space. (I currently have space on my shelves due to a recent drastic culling.) The answer to this question seems pretty much identical with a list of my keepers, which tend to run by author. In no particular order, Georgette Heyer, Jennifer Crusie, Megan Whalen Turner, Terry Pratchett, Ben Aaronovitch, the triple-headed Jayne Anne Krentz (she has two other names she writes under.)

It's a rare and happy event when a new writer is added to that stable. I've recently become a fan of science writer Nick Lane, although his are more "feel-smart" books than "feel-good" books.

In the World of the Five Gods, we know that a sorcerer who kills with magic will lose his/her demon to the Bastard. Imagine that the sorcerer uses magic to weaken a component of a bridge; the bridge collapses and people die. Does it make a difference whether the collapse happens immediately, 5 seconds later, 5 minutes later, 5 hours later, 5 days later? Apologies if this is already answered somewhere.

Two Qs - who's the Vorhalas referred to in Mirror Dance as potential PM to replace Aral? The Count seems too old and I'm not sure who else there is! Are there other Serg offspring who might cause problems for Gregor? I also have a theory that Ezar is Gregor's father, but wouldn't mind a rejection of it so I can let it go! I figure that Ezar might have "worked with" Kareen as part of the anti-Serg plan is all.
