Hi Robin -I love MMU and have just started Ministry! I really like May, and the spy plot, and background on WW2. I'm also enjoying the updates on Daisy and Hazel. I was wondering why May calls Jie Jie Ma Ma here, when in ASOM Hazel said May and Rose didn't call Jie Jie Mother?

Robin Stevens So this is a really interesting one. In terms of the reality of the time, May and Rose should technically call their mother Jie Jie, not Ma Ma. But when I put that into an early draft of Ministry, my Chinese readers were all united in feeling that just wasn't right. So I decided to be a little historically incorrect for the sake of modern readers!
