Goodreads asked Rúnar Bjarnason:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Rúnar Bjarnason I dislike the term "writer's block", since it sounds like something out of your control is blocking you from writing. If I find myself unable to write, it's usually because either I haven't done the work of clarifying what I really want to say, or I've written something that I'm unhappy with and I subconsciously don't want to proceed. Outlining, thinking on paper, and playing around with ideas can help with either of these. Giving myself permission to throw away what is already written can help move things forward. The key thing for me is to keep the stakes low. Pressure and stress are my worst enemies, both when writing and programming.
