You have continued to write scripts for stories based off of your books. Would you ever consider writing an original screenplay?

Rick Riordan Oh, probably not. I never wanted to be in the film industry, honestly. I'm happy being a novelist. Learning to adapt for TV/film has been really interesting, and I've learned a lot that has helped my writing, but it's only a means to an end -- getting better adaptations of my books onto the screen. I'll leave the original screenplays to those who are more passionate about that medium!

Do you think that, when trying to create a story, it is more important to first be somewhat sure of the outline of the world and the plot before starting to shape the characters, or rather the other way round?
