Thank you for Demon Daughter. I had wondered how you would tell if a new demon (infested?) a young child. I forgot about the fires. LOL. My question is: Do you think Penric is known/remembered as a person in Cazaril's time? Or is he just an author on useful books in the chapter libraries?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Your first question is similar to how one would tell if a new demon infested a cat... :-) You need someone with second/god-sight to diagnose it: saint, petty saint, sorcerer or shaman. And older demon with human personalities and speech would make it more obvious by their ascended behavior, although a very clever demon might even keep that concealed for a while.
I have no idea yet what Pen's relation to Caz's time till be. His books will certainly linger in Temple libraries in all realms where they've had translations, which so far does not include the Ibran peninsula.
A much older Penric interests me, although I don't want to jump prematurely over all the cool story possibilities that lie nearer term.

I have been reading and really enjoying the Penric novellas. What, if any, of earth's cultures and religious faiths did you use for ideas to flesh out the 5 God beliefs and rituals? I'm thinking especially of using special animals at a funeral to signal that the person's spirit had been taken up by his or her God, and which God.

Hello, I hope my question isn't offensive. But I was talking to another person who also read your books (I don't think she counts as a fan), and she complained that Miles thought about sex too much -- she was referring to the Borders of Infinity scene, I think. Do you think she's just underestimating how much the average guy thinks about it, since they supposedly think about it every few seconds?

Hi Lois, I first picked up your books when my dad introduced me to the series with Warrior's Apprentice. Since then I've devoured everything you've written, in both sci-fi and fantasy. I find General Piotr's back story incredibly fascinating. Were there ever plans for a prequel involving his fight against the Cetagandans?
