First off, thanks for the work. Your books are old friends. I just started rereading "Penric's Demon", and he's just getting to know Desdemona a bit, thinking about what was happening to him, and it came to me that one day I would very much like to read the story of Penric's first imprinting on the next generation. Posting that is the second most fannish thing I've ever done. >grin< Forgive me?

Thanks for being my good reader!
Re: Pen and the next generation, it depends on whether you mean his influence on his children and students, or what happens when he (eventually) dies, and Des attempts to jump to a new person. I am in absolutely no hurry to address that complex issue!
Children and students are rather more present in Pen's current time frame. Many possibilities there, too good to be jumped over.

Hi Lois! My student Pablo Sánchez's BA dissertation on 'Ethan of Athos' can be found here: http://ddd.uab.cat/record/180123. He's about to publish this in Spanish, in the online journal Hélice. And I'm teaching right now your novel to my English Studies undergrad students here at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Any message for them? Best wishes, Sara

That's fascinating--thanks for answering! So does Barrayaran imperial succession follows similar logic to the inheritance of Countships--in terms of being able to take into consideration things like suitability for the job or other factors, over totally inflexible male primogeniture over all other considerations (along the lines of what we saw with Rene Vorbretten)?
