Alas, no sentient aliens in the Vorkosiverse. (Though we have seen other biota -- apparently, one can't get an oxygen atmosphere without it.) This is a genetic engineering future, like Cordwainer Smith's Instrumentality, where 10,000 years down the timeline all the exotic aliens will be descended from us. We are seeing the first stirrings of this future in Miles's time. (I strongly rec the cycle of stories of Cordwainer Smith, some of which have aged surprisingly well from when I first met them in the late 1960s.)

I saw a question below about a book about Miles' children - I second the notion. I'd love to read it. But have you considered "going back in time" and writing another book about a younger Miles? Such as his time as an Imperial Auditor? I love your books but Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen seemed so final.
