Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kristin Harmel Whereas every other novel I’ve written has evolved over months – or even years – of thinking and reflecting, the genesis of THE LIFE INTENDED was a bit unusual. I actually dreamed the plot almost whole. I know that sounds kooky, especially since the novel centers partially on the dreams that the main character has of her dead husband, but it’s true. I woke up one morning a couple of years ago, and the entire book was already in my head. I jumped out of bed, rushed to the kitchen table, grabbed a stack of paper, and began scribbling as quickly as I could, to get as many elements of the plot down on paper as I possibly could. The finer details – the sign language lessons, the kids’ cochlear implants, Patrick’s and Kate’s personalities, etc. – evolved later, but the basic structure of the plot and lots of the broader details were there from day one. Weird, right? Maybe this is the book intended!

I have to tell you that I have enjoyed this book very much. I finished reading this book in less than 8 hours (2 nights) , after work , family and sleep. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed reading a novel like this. It was like seeing it unfold like a movie in my head as I was reading. Oh my goodness, I JUST finished The Room on Rue Amelie. As I sat at my desk at work, tears flowing, I just had to come tell you how wrecked ( in the best way a book can do) I am. What an outstanding story, that I was NOT prepared for! I just wish I would have had a little more time with the characters before it was all over! Thanks for this book! Do you plan on writing more of this genre?
