Reading: Carnaby - "a kilt he'd fashioned for himself out of a clutch of tartan antimacassars. Clan Buchanon, if memory serves." Hmm? Looking up: The Buchanan clan takes its name from the lands of Buchanan in Stirlingshire, Scotland. The name "Buchanan" is derived from the Gaelic "Mac a' Bhuthaichain," meaning "son of the house steward". !!! THIS is why I LOVE your books!!!

I really appreciate that Jesper. In fact, it’s not a deliberate Easter egg, as such, I just wanted to be sure that the tartan was historically legitimate and, more importantly, unlikely to excite comment by young Prince George. This led to reading the histories of several tartans and, when I stumbled upon Buchanan, obviously, the decision was out of my hands.
It’s very very gratifying to know that these efforts are appreciated. Thank you very much.

Kilcladdich - Thank you so much for making me laugh out loud when I woke up. I listen to audiobooks when I go to bed. I went to sleep with 2 sheep and woke up with "you know there's about 100 sheep out there?" I started laughing and said PJ is so clever! I love the addition of the sheep!

I'm on the second book, and really enjoying it, but I noticed that you misspelled Allan Quatermain's name. Has anyone else pointed that out? (Hundred's I'd guess, but I'm a huge Quatermain fan, even have a cat named after him, so I was quick to notice.) Again, though, I'm loving this series and so glad there are eight books to read!

You know the surge of joy and adrenaline that you get when you see one of your favorite authors has a new book? Well I got it when I saw "Reckoning at the Riviera Royale" - but what surprised me was that it was even better than the earlier books! I love the way the dialogue bounces along with me trying to keep up - like trying to chase the proverbial Gloucestershire Cheese! Please tell me another's on the way?
