Hi James! Such a huge fan of WOTM and just started the Licanius series this week (and loving it so far!). When do you know a story or character’s arc is truly finished? Is there anything you use to draw inspiration from in those moments?

I think an arc's truly finished when to add more to it would risk it becoming less satisfying or interesting, rather than more - it's definitely more related to the 'feel' of the story than anything technical.
Not specifically - but finishing off an arc that you've been working towards for months, maybe years, is always pretty special, so in a lot of ways that excitement and emotion is a kind of inspiration in and of itself!

Hi James! My question pertains to Ashalia from Licanius. Without getting into any specific spoilers, I wanted to say that I greatly enjoyed that she always seemed to do the cleverest thing in every scenario, finding smart, efficient solutions to her problems—basically, everything I as the reader was rooting for her to do. How did you go about balancing that competency with keeping her character grounded?
