I don't think anyone will bother even trying to write seriously unless they have a deep passion for books. So to be able to build your own worlds, your own characters, and to make them come to life on the page, is really the fulfillment of a dream. Also, writing forces you to think deeply about life, and it gives you a better understanding of yourself and your place in the world.
