Lois McMaster Bujold:
Do you incorporate current social or political issues into your stories?
Lois McMaster Bujold
What an odd question. I don't think you can have read my stories yet.
The short answer is No. More specifically, I do not write stories to explore issues, especially contemporary aka ephemeral ones. I write to explore characters. Various readers, at various times, have read their social or political concerns into the tales, variously; but this is more a measure of the reader than the story. (Studying reader responses to the same story over, say, four 10-year intervals will illustrate this nicely. For especial interest, reduce the variable array by one more and look at the same reader's readings over 4 decades.)

Lois McMaster Bujold:
Would you be willing to make an authorial statement of the status of the WGW outside of Lakewalker/Farmer lands? If the malice disaster was limited to that continent or was worldwide, and if so, are there other survivors? Were there any other cultures at the same level of ground/mage technology, and did they know what happened? Did they quarantine the area & are they keeping a close eye in case a malice escapes?

Hello! Thank you for the Vorkosigan books; I just finished Captain Vorpatril's alliance and I love what good, kind people the characters are and how much they're able to help each other; it's an optimistic lens for the real world. I appreciated your thoughts in this interview: https://nautil.us/does-science-fiction-shape-the-future-543468/ did any of the other authors' answers surprise you or make you think?
