Mica Leon The inspiration actually came after the necessity to write this story. You see, I just finished all three books of the Seedmage Cycle trilogy (which started out as one big 180k-word book!) just a couple of months prior, and I needed a new project that didn't need meticulous worldbuilding.

I'm a professional book editor in the Philippines. I've been one for more than 10 years, and I'd say that the publishing world in the Philiippines is something I know well enough. It's a setting that I don't have to build from scratch.

So from there, knowing that I don't have to worry about the setting, I thought, how can I have fun with this story? And the idea came. What if I wrote a romance about a romance book editor within a romance story that calls back to all the classic romances we know and love like Pride And Prejudice, Filipino Romcoms, Julia Roberts movies, all those romcom pop culture references? And so Love On The Second Read was written with that intention.
