Hi Tim, I just read Chasing the Devil and posted a review. Wonderful book and you’ve rekindled my big interest in Liberia where I served in the Peace Corps from 1984-85. My question for you is are you currently working on a new book? Hope so! All the best, Michael Arden

Dear Michael - thank you for taking time to both read and publicly review Chasing the Devil. It is the source of so many cherished memories. As you yourself have experienced what off-piste life is like upline in Liberia, you might recognise what I mean when I say it has a calming sense of energy about it: the process of just living is so demanding, it leaves little energy over for anything else. I am writing two books at the moment, chasing my tail (if not my devil), as the twin helix often becomes tangled. Onwards, TimB

Has the situation in the DRC improved since Blood River? I work as an Observer at the World Bank Forest Carbon Partner Facility trying to reduce deforestation. The DRC jut got approved for an $80 million project which we were objecting to as it does little for forest governance and has a huge chance of not helping the forests, result in the involuntary resettlement of indigenous people and forest dependent communities

Tim - I've just this minute listened to your stint on Radio 4's 'Bookclub', which was originally aired in 2011. What a fantastic programme - very informative and you came across as passionate and genuinely concerned about the future of Congo. I'm now listening to a few other archived episodes as I avoid completing another project brief while sat in a dull, sweaty office in Khartoum. Do you fancy a trip down the Nile?

Where can I get a kindle of Chasing the Devil? Have searched high and low. Assume there is some contractual problems with them. Greene's book on Liberia / Sierra Leone is frankly terrible-- I stopped reading it when he adds a laundry list from social columns in a local paper. It was God awful for numerous reasons...he must have been learning to write as I like some of the later works. Read your Sarajevo book ..
