Amanda Hocking I don't personally have Scandinavian roots, but a lot of people in the Southern Minnesota area (where I live) do. The Trylle and Kanin stories were based on Scandinavian folklore, and since Minnesota shares a lot of the same heritage, it was one of the things that drew me to the mythology. The Trylle series just touched on the history, but in the Kanin Chronicles, the story does delve more into the mythology and how the trolls are connected with Scandinavia. :)
