Do you find writing a standalone novel a more difficult challenge rather than writing a trilogy where you can build the world and characters?

Hi Giselle!
Thanks for asking! Yes and no. In a standalone, I was essentially working with a single arc for each character, and a plot arc. In a series, you have that for each book, plus an overarching arc over the entire series. It's fun to explore the characters more, but it's also more challenging to tie up all the loose ends!

When you began writing Article 5, did you give any specific thought to developing characters that challenged stereotypical gender norms? If so, how did the dystopian genre aid or enhance your ability to breathe life into these characters and do you feel that dystopia provided the perfect setting in which to question and challenge the status quo?
