Mardie asked Olen Steinhauer:

What do you think of the developments, the "illiberalism" in Hungary. Are you going to write about it?

Olen Steinhauer It's a serious problem, and is one of the reasons I'm choosing to raise my daughter largely in the US. Hungary's not the only European country facing this wave of nationalism and illiberalism, but things are particularly bad there because the previous government, the Socialists, let their corruption be exposed, which in turn angered the voters so much that the current party, Fidesz, was voted in with so much of a majority that they've been able to simply rewrite the constitution. That's a terrifying situation.

Will I write about it? I doubt I'll base an entire book on the situation, but it'll certainly come up along the way.
