I've heard The Glass Arrow described as the new Handmaid's Tale for a younger generation. What are your writing influences, especially as it pertains to this book?

Kristen Simmons Hi Ardi,

I was definitely affected by Handmaid's Tale when I first read it in high school. Something about being at that point where I was trying to figure out my place in the world, who I was, who I wanted to be... It was a huge influence to me, and still continues to be as I think about what it means to be a woman. So it was a huge influence, as was another of my other favorite dystopian stories, The Road, another post-apocalyptic world where gender roles have been affected.
