Laurie asked Erik Larson:

Isaac's Storm is my all-time favorite of your books. You described being in a hurricane so vividly. It still haunts me to this day. I love how you structured the book similar to the Devil in the White City, but the hurricane was the dark side. What called you to write about this hurricane in Galveston?

Erik Larson So you're in good company. My wife says Isaac's Storm is her favorite as well. Frankly, I stumbled across the storm by accident, while researching a different (and failed) subject. Having grown up on Long Island, I was a hurricane junkie from way back, though it was always a love-hate thing: I lived in a mostly-glass house surrounded by giant trees.
