Sir, as a retired police detective I know the enormity of the research that you must of done for all your books. I am reading Dead Wake and am fascinated! I am particularly enjoying the personal stories. During your research did you did you find many more personal accounts of this fated voyage? If yes, then was it difficult to choose who to include?

Erik Larson There are many personal accounts, but really rich and detailed accounts tend to be hard to come by. Hence the characters in my book: All left behind one or more accounts that provided enough detail to allow readers to follow them through the voyage, the sinking, and the aftermath.
