Always be open to constant learning. Attend conferences and workshops and read, read, read. Once you're published, don't stop learning. You'll never "arrive" so always be looking for ways to improve your craft. The other important thing is to be persistent. I always have a Plan B, C, and D. Sometimes Plan E if I need it. If writing is your passion, never give up!
