Darrell asked Martha Wells:

First just want to say I love the Books of the Raksura! Secondly, a completely trivial question: Why doesn't Stone speak in his winged form? More importantly, are you planning on writing more books set in the Three Worlds, and if so when can we expect them?

Martha Wells Thank you very much! And thanks for your questions!

1) It has to do with the way the Raksura's shapeshifting ability works. They're actually existing in two dimensions simultaneously, unconsciously transferring mass and energy back and forth between them. (There's a bit in an upcoming story where a character with special visual abilities can see both of Moon's forms at the same time, for instance.) Because Stone is so old, he's sort of starting to blur between the two dimensions, so it's extremely difficult to make himself heard when he's in his scaled form. I hope that makes sense! I feel like I've explained this better before, but I can't find a link to it right now.

2) Yes, I am! Hopefully I'll be able to give details about that soon.
(In the meantime, I have Stories of the Raksura II: The Dead City & The Dark Earth Below coming out in June. (Plus I just released an ebook short story collection that doesn't have Raksura stories, but does have prequel reprint stories from The Element of Fire, the Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy, and a brand new story set before The Death of the Necromancer)).
