Lois McMaster Bujold:
Hello Lois! I am always confused about whether I should look for your books under "McMaster" or under "Bujold" in local stores. Can you elucidate what your "surname" is? Thanks!
Lois McMaster Bujold
Ah, good question to get clarified.
The surname is "Bujold", and my books should be listed under the Bs.
McMaster is my maiden name, which I use as my middle name. So there should be no hyphens, either. Both stores and libraries, as well as readers, sometimes get confused about this, unfortunately.
(I sometimes wish, as I am sitting there writing my tripartite name over and over at book signings, that I had gone with the shorter "Lois McMaster" as my writing name, but it is too late now to change. At least Bujold appears higher in any alphabetic list, which can't hurt for visibility.)

Not a question but a huge thank you. Since lockdown began I have been rereading as much of the Vorkosigan saga as I could lay my hands on. Between Amazon, Baen, the local library electronic downloads, and copies I already owned, I think I have reread them all, not necessarily in order and some for the 3rd time, and they have provided wonderful escape when the news became too dreary. Any more Miles adventures coming?

What helps with figuring out how to tell a type of story that isn't told often? For example, when you were working on the Sharing Knife books and realized you had set up demographic and long-term problems that your characters would tackle in books 3 and 4, what helped you come to grips with how to do it? How did you bridge the gap between wanting to write a story with an unusual shape and actually doing it?

Do you know about Kindle Worlds? An author who opens up a fictional world to other writers receives a nice portion of each sale, plus attracts new readers to the original stories! I love your Penric stories. And look forward to all installments. But if you feel the Vorkosigan and Sharing Knife stories are done (for you, for now), you would certainly multiply your gain from them via the Kindle Worlds venue!
