Shelly
Shelly asked Jennifer A. Nielsen:

I am fascinated with your story. "The False Prince" is one of those books that I couldn't put down. I hope that my adventures as a writer will take me as far. It's a very tough career and so much more difficult than I had anticipated. Do you have any interviews online that might help someone aspiring publication? :)

Jennifer A. Nielsen Thank you, Shelly. I think I've answered that question individually from time to time, but I don't think I've ever done an entire interview on that topic. But you say you're hoping to go far - I think it's important right now to identify specifically what that means for you. Because there are many definitions of success in this business and many routes to get there. And with so many options, it's also really easy to get sidetracked or just to take an easier way out, just to have some success, even if it's not the thing you really want. So stay focused on your goal and then make decisions based on whether that choice will get you closer to your goal, or whether it's just another thing you can do. Also, as you say, it is a tough career and can be very difficult. Remember that those who succeed in this business aren't necessarily the ones with the most talent; it's the ones who are tenacious and never quit trying. So hang in there! Tell yourself you will break in one day, that it's only a matter of time, and keep writing!
