Goodreads asked Justin MacCormack:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Justin MacCormack I tend to think that once I've got a plot going, it should evolve naturally. Let the events flow organically from one another. If I get writer's block, it's because the events are proceeding too smoothly, without any massive hiccups. Drama is caused by conflict, after all. So I just think "What's the worst thing that could happen to the characters at this moment in time?" Then, I cause that to happen, and see how they react.
