What was your inspiration for Jared's and Tate's story? Was it a real-life event or was it a book or movie that inspired you to write about childhood lovers?

Penelope Douglas It was a plethora of different things, really. I read Fallen Crest High by Tijan and loved the edge she wrote with younger characters, and I really enjoy love-hate relationships. I was bullied as a kid for a while, so I could bring in some of my own thoughts and feelings. I think those are the best stories. The ones where the author can write what they know but take it further with their imagination. It makes it authentic but enjoyable.
