Elena asked Lauren Oliver:

Hi Miss Oliver! I just read Vanishing Girls and I love it! When you write these kind of stories (the ones where all secrets are explained at the end) do you know the whole story before you write, or does it come to you while you're writing?

Lauren Oliver I like to write my way into books. I usually write about 20k words freely, getting to know the characters and the world. Then I make myself sit down and write a very detailed outline. Especially with twisty book like VG, I find the plotting process to be very helpful.
