How do you feel about the cover change to third book in the Sky Fall series?
Shannon Messenger
Personally, I LOVE the new covers, and I honestly feel like they do a better job of representing the books.
The other covers were gorgeous and romantic and I will always love them--and am so glad I get to have them on my bookshelf. But they did also make the books look like they were mostly a love story, when the love stuff is really a side plot. A BIG side plot. But still a side plot to the whole ARE WE GOING TO SURVIVE plotline that composes the main thread of the story.
So I love that we finally get to see more of the fantasy elements on the covers. I love that Audra gets to look strong and be wearing her guardian uniform and holding her windslicer. And I love that Vane looks super powerful too.
I know redesigns are hard for fans because some get so attached to the original look. But honestly, the new look isn't THAT different. The cover for LTWR was always going to be a snowy scene, so even if they'd gone with the old style it would've had a gray and white color scheme. And it still has Vane and Audra on the cover and a ton of sky, just like the others. Yes, the artistic style is a little different, as is the font, and it's not a romantic pose this time. But it's really not all that different from what it would've been had their been no redesign. But it's also a look that's much more in line with what the book really is.
So like I said, I love it. I can't WAIT to hold all three in my hands.

Dear Shannon Messenger - thank you for being so friendly on goodreads and answering questions! I just finished EXILE and will soon start book 3, yay! So far book 1 is my favorite. Q: Your covers are AMAZING. If - ahem, *when* - my book is published, I want my cover to be just as gorgeous. Did you get to choose the artist, or were you just lucky? Did you get to request what the artist would draw? Thanks!
