Do you think stories that center around suicide/suicidal thoughts of a teenager is too harsh for a YA novel? What's your personal opinion on it?

Lauren Oliver I don't think there's any topic too harsh for a YA novel. Readers of YA lit are dealing with the harshness of the world the same way everyone else is, and they deserve stories that help them to cope, process, and understand. I recently read All The Bright Places, which is a beautiful book dealing with these topics, if you want to check it out.
