Samantha Sheafer asked Rin Chupeco:

Hello! I just started reading to my sister, The Girl from the Well. We both immensely love it! She loves the scary parts and I love the Japanese culture. It is a brilliant book, so my sister wants to know "What is the hardest thing about writing?" Again, we both love the book and can't wait for the next one! -Charlie

Rin Chupeco Writing. Writing is the hardest thing about writing.

It's easy at first, when they're just percolating in your head. In there, characters always appear the way you want them to be, storylines seem plausible, and everything feels coherent and well-developed. But when you start writing them down, they have to make the transition from being coherent only to you, to needing to be coherent to everyone else. Writing a work of fiction is really just explaining to people about the idea you had, through a story. And if you don't explain it well enough, they won't like it. Worse still, you're trying to explain your idea to people you have never even met yet. That's a daunting task.

Thank you very much, and thank your sister for me as well! :)
