Iris Johansen Dealing with any sensitive subject can be difficult. I don't claim to be an expert. In truth, when I was writing the Face of Deception I didn't even think I was doing anything that the reader might have a problem accepting. I was involved with the characters and they were writing their own story. I believe if the power of the story and characters dominate then it will sweep the reader along with you. Also, my forensic sculptor is totally devoted to healing and giving closure. Hope works miracles.

As far as persuading publishers to accept a concept, there is no formula. You have to find the right editor and you have to write a book powerful enough to blow him or her away. In the end, it's all about storytelling.
