Thanks for asking, Brian. I grew up on the New Hampshire Seacoast rolling around the deck of my parents' lobsterboat on a stroller. I knew I wanted to have a lobsterman character, but I also knew I wanted a good-guy social worker with a troubled past. My story changed a lot over the six years I spent writing and editing, but those initial characters and the New Hampshire coastal setting gave me the early foundation of my book.
