What's the most disappointing thing you've had to cut out of a novel in the editing phase?

Paul Mannering Mostly it is other character's stories. I create these fascinating supporting cast - and then I get side-tracked into telling their story - which could end up being a book of it's own. The result is that I have to trim it back and keep the focus on the main plot and subplots.
