Goodreads asked K.M. Shea:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

K.M. Shea Never stop writing or reading. There's a saying that says it takes 10,000 hours to become skilled at something. It's true for writing. You can learn a lot by studying great authors, but it will take a lot of practice to grow skilled at the writing process. I spent years reading magazines and books and talking to authors, and I spent even more years writing books that will never see daylight. Bottom line? The more you learn and the more you practice, the better your writing will be.
