Loved both Anna Dressed In Blood and the sequel. I would not describe myself as a lover of the horror, but The Lottery is my favorite short story and Alfred Hitchcock is my favorite director. So why do people love being scared by their horror novels and movies?

Even though you're not a lover of horror, it sounds like you enjoy disturbing things! That for me, is the heart of why I love horror. Being scared is fun sometimes, sure, but that doesn't last. The best horror tells a great story, makes us think, pushes our boundaries, and entertains our ghoulish curiosities. Scares are good, but for me at least, it is the people or the creatures who intrigue that keep me coming back for more.
