What makes a great horror story for you?

Kendare Blake Lots of different things! It can be a great, twisted premise, like the soul-sucking Christmasland of Joe Hill's NOS4A2, or a beautiful, creepy atmosphere, like in Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It can be wrong things in mundane places. Phenomena that defies logic or physics or both. It could be when all of those things come together just right.
