Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Stuart Gibbs I am lucky enough to have a very close friend who is an astronaut. Through him, I have had some really amazing experiences, like getting to attend space shuttle launches in the VIP section and touring the Johnson Space Center behind the scenes. When my agent and editor learned about this, they instantly insisted that I should do a space book. It occurred to me that much of what we see of space travel in the movies isn't anything like it really is, so I decided to play off that knowledge and create a more realistic sci-fi novel.
