Bruna asked Kristan Higgins:

Hello Kristan, I truly enjoy your books. I always wanted to know, when you start writing a book do you already have the story in your mind, or does it come as you go?

Kristan Higgins It makes me very happy when I know what's going to happen in advance. That being said, I don't always get that. In fact, I mostly don't get that. I try to map the book out first, but characters and plots have a way of developing that the writer can't imagine until she's about, oh, 265 pages in. So once I'm there, in the muck and mire of the book, I let go of the outline and just do what seems right for the characters.
