Hmmmm, well I loved Daemon from Obsidian and Q from Tears of Tess. I read those men frequently.
As for a mean girl in a story, one of the projects I'm contemplating next has somewhat of a mean, popular girl with a brooding, loner outcast type guy in the story. For the most part, I find that trope difficult for readers to buy into in the romance genre. Since most readers are female, they want to identify with the heroine. If she's a brat, that can make her unrelateable and the reader often resents her.
It can be done, though. ;)
