Trinda asked Shannon Messenger:

Do you ever go on any websites to read reviews for your books? Also I love Keeper! I have Neverseen on hold :)

Shannon Messenger I do not. Even here on goodreads, I never read reviews for my books (or scroll through my feed, since I don't want to see status updates). I know some authors do, but I've personally had to accept that reviews do nothing more than mess with my head. If I read a good review, I start to think, "what if they don't love the next book as much as they loved this one?" since each book twists the stories new ways. And bad reviews are--of course--very disheartening (even when you tell yourself: "every book gets them" it doesn't make it any easier). So I'm very diligent about not reading reviews of any kind, to protect my "writing-sanity." But I do SUPER appreciate people who post them. I don't know if readers realize how much reviews help an author (especially when you post them on consumer websites like amazon and barnes and noble and whatnot). So even though I don't read them, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
