Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Case Maynard The idea for The Surrendered actually came from a dream. In my dream, I was in a huge civic center type auditorium with hundreds of other families who were having to surrender their children because of an inability to pay exorbitant taxes that had been imposed on them. It was very frustrating! But I woke up and thought to myself "I'm going to write that!"
