In Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army you see Jack develop. I love his independence and how he knows when to rely on his friends. He also has one of the best qualities. Heart. But near the end of the book you see Jack riddled with grief and pain and despite his endless determination to save Anna, it seemed that he was unable to fight. Jack has a powerful unknown gift, will we see it in the third book?

Yes. You'll probably see it in all the books in the series. These books, at their core, is about Jack's development as a hero, and all the pain, loss, and tragedy he suffers are what help shape him into the hero he'll eventually become. Jack will have to deal with these feelings, and learn from them, if he hopes to survive the conflicts to come.
