Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
Shruti, I think my newest novel, Before We Visit the Goddess, about three generations of women, a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter, spanning India and America, is the closest to my heart. I worked very hard at creating these characters and bringing out the joys, sorrows and ironies of their lives. one of the major themes is heritage – what do we learn from our mothers and pass on to our children. That too is very close to my heart.
