Curtis Sittenfeld:
Did you lose friends over "Prep"? Did you make any? A decade after reading the book, it still strikes me as a deeply descriptive work of fiction and the major characters are easy to summon. The thing with writing something so very memorable, of course, is that it can stir all kinds of feelings in someone from the same time or place.

I hope your time at Groton was positive! Just kidding. I'm not sure that I made or lost any friends over Prep. I know that some boarding school graduates loved it and some hated it, which actually doesn't distinguish it from most novels.

I came across Prep by chance and absolutely loved it. I've read everything of yours since. As a teacher who is always looking for great authors and books to recommend to students, have you ever thought about writing any middle grade or young adult lit? (By the way, I have recommended your books to my students' moms!)
