Liesje asked Laura Florand:

:-) what do you do when you lack motivation toward a goal/deadline? Or?.... Should I ask, how have you accomplished so much!!!!

Laura Florand Thank you. :) That's kind of you to say!

I don't know if I'm any example! I mostly just keep going anyway. You set up a rhythm and keep to it. (I write from 4 or 5 to 7 or 7:30 every morning, for example. A little flexibility in there depending on how late I got to bed or how early my daughter gets up.) You just do it! I write more than that as I can, and I usually can, but in nearly all circumstances except illness or a family emergency, I keep to that daily minimum. But I also believe that sometimes people really *need* to take a break and will come back richer and more productive for it, and that's something we all need to be conscious of. Balancing discipline with an ability to take a vacation. : ) Getting to be "lazy" is good for us, too. (Without feeling guilty about it! That one is a real trick for me, still to this day.)

For motivation...I'm also a big fan of long walks or getting outside to play with your kids or friends, when your brain stalls. I would have a very hard time, if I lived in a place that wasn't good for walking.
