Hi Tracy. A lot of your books include characters with particular skills: painting, tapestries, millinery, patchwork. Are there any of these that have become a lasting part of your life after spending time immersed in them?

Hi there. That's an interesting question! The quilt making is still a hobby in particular. Actually, if you're interested you can watch some videos I made about quilt-making here.

And on the art side in general, I was involved in curating exhibitions linked to Charlotte Bronte's 200th last year. Which was a lot of fun, and included a quilting exhibition (Bronte-inspired). See the video link above to view art we commissioned, and also http://www.tchevalier.com/charlotte-b...

Tracy Chevalier:
Hi Tracy, so I have just devoured Remarkable Creatures in one sitting. I was fortunate to spend a few days in Lyme Regis and even went on a fossil hunt with Paddy Howe. I was so pleased to find my very own Belemnite. Anyway my question is, Will there ever be a movie? In a way I really hope not as the book is just too perfect to be tampered with. Oh and what fossils did you find? Lol. Already planning my next trip...

I’ve only just realised from a trailer how very different Ammonite is from Remarkable Creatures. I was wondering how I could possibly have forgotten/misread your novel 😳 but thank goodness that isn’t the case. Ioved your book and was truly looking forward to seeing how it as a film. Now I understand why this film isn’t called RC! I’d still love to see RC on screen. Mini-series sounds great! Netflix pitch?

Thank you for your message regarding the new book At the Edge of the Orchard. As an Ohioan and a birdwatcher, I spend many hours in the Black Swamp in Ohio. (Considered the Warbler Capital of the world) Looking forward to reading historical fiction taking place in that area. How did you choose the Black Swamp?
