I really enjoy your characters and appreciate your character development. What advice do you have for an aspiring writer who struggles with these aspects?

Jacqueline Winspear Thank you for your question, Leslie. My only piece of advice is to pay attention to people. Observe people about their day. Think about them. Wonder who they are and where they are going, what they are doing with their lives. Pay attention to movement, to gestures, to modes of speech - the way one person greets another, or an overheard conversation.
