Hello Rutha! I loved between shades of grey. It really did feel so real as if you experienced it firsthand. Please what was your inspiration for that novel and what allowed you to create such a realistic atmosphere?

Hello Oluchi!
Thank you for reading "Between Shades of Gray!" I was inspired to write the novel because much of the world is not aware that Stalin deported so many people to Siberia. I wanted to write the book to create an awareness and also give voice to the people who never had a chance to tell their story. Interviewing survivors and hearing their testimony helped to create a realistic atmosphere. Thanks again!

Hi Ruta, Thank you for taking questions. I so enjoyed Out of the Easy. The characters were amazing and the descriptions lifted me out of my life for awhile, and gave me a real feel for the people and place. Your dialog and also your text read almost lyrically. I was wondering if you have any musical background or inspiration in your writing? I'm looking forward to now reading more of your books. Wendy

Hi Ruta! I'm an eighth grader who just finished your book "Between Shades of Gray" and adored it. I was wondering if there were ways you can read more about people like Lina and her family who were sent to work from Lithuania to Russia--perhaps even get in touch with them? :)

I am a huge fan of your work, and want to say that I never really got into the Historical Fiction Genre until I read Between Shades of Gray. The relatable characters and narration caused me to grow very attached to ALL of the characters. Is there ever going to be a story about Andrius's experiences in Siberia and what happend to happened to him after Lina had left, or when Lina and Andrius are reunited?
